Keyword Effectiveness Index

The Keyword Effectiveness Index (KEI) is used to calculate which keywords can be used for a website SEO-proof to make. The KEI is a useful tool for good SEO teksten writing, but you can't get hard data from it.

For a good KEI calculation, it is important to look at the meaning of keywords or these Keywords also be used by competing websites. The right keyword is a word that is frequently searched for in the search engine, but one that is difficult to find answers to within existing Search Engine Results Pages

The ROI can be easily calculated using this formula:

KEI = number of searches / number of SERPs

The number of searches for a specific keyword can be found via, for example Semrush (indicated by ‘search volume’). You can find the number of SERPs by keyword type it into the search engine. At the top, it will say ‘about ... results’.

The disadvantage of the KEI is that the quality of the competitors is not taken into account. To prevent this, you actually want only the keywords that are in the Title Tag are mentioned, are displayed in the results. This can be easily done by typing ‘allintitle: ’ into the search engine. When the keyword is mentioned in the title tag, you can assume that this is a competitor.

Furthermore, it is important not only shorttail search terms to be used in the KEI calculation, but also longtail keywords. This gives you more specific insight into which keywords yield the best results for Search engine optimization
