What is Google?

Google is known worldwide as one of the largest search engines on the World Wide Web. However, Google (although we often don't think about it) is secretly much more than just a search engine. It is a large American company that provides an enormous number of different services. Nowadays, we can't imagine life without the convenience of the gigantic search engine of the same name. 

But the company is actually still relatively new to the world. It was only founded in 1998 and was not well-known at all back then. Two young students came up with this grand idea and initially received little support. Now, more than twenty years later, we can certainly say that these two students were right. In a relatively short time, they ensured that Google became the most visited website worldwide. An influential website visited by young and old, and now also very important for almost everyone online marketing strategy.

Secretly, there's still a lot we don't know about this company and its namesake search engine. Because what exactly is Google? How does it actually work? What makes, for example, the ranking factors from a website? How does Google read other websites? And how could two students have developed a medium that is now so influential more than twenty years later? What makes Google so special?

The definition of a search engine is clear to almost everyone. In a search engine, you enter a search query (usually one or more words) and immediately see a number of websites that meet these criteria.
