SSL certificate

An SSL certificate secures data between a website's server and an internet browser, such as Chrome. SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer, so you are essentially adding a secure layer to your website. An SSL certificate is bound to a domain. For every SSL certificate, you have a unique IP address necessary, but you can move an SSL certificate to another IP address or another server. You can also install an SSL certificate on multiple IP addresses simultaneously. 

Using an SSL certificate, data can be stored without the intervention of external systems. This makes a website better protected against cyberattacks or fraud, for example.
