Link value

What is link value?

Link value tells us something about the value a specific URL has for search engines. This tells search engines a lot about how relevant the website or web page is. When a link has a high link value, it will rank higher in search results than a website with a low link value. The pitfall, however, is that it is very difficult to express link value in numbers. How link value is determined depends on many different factors. The value is entirely dependent on the context, the situation, and the way it is represented.

When determining link value, it's important to use the right link building software. This way, you can see how qualitative a particular link is. The link value can change over time. For example, the link value may decrease when a certain URL has changed or when there has been duplicate content. This could happen because another website has copied the information from the site – with or without the owner's knowledge – or if the information has simply been published on different websites. Whatever the situation, Google does not like duplicate content and will penalize it with a lower link value.
