Link juice

What is link juice?

Link juice is the value that is transferred from one webpage to another webpage using a matching link. The higher the link value of one page, the more link juice will be transferred to the other page. This value is essential for a good SEO strategy and fits within improving your LinkedIn profile. For link building, it's not just quantity that counts, but the quality of the links also plays an important role. The more your webpage is linked to from higher-ranking pages, the higher your ranking will become. But what exactly is link juice? And how do you get started with it?

Link juice is a metaphorical term used in SEO to describe the value and authority passed from one page to another through hyperlinks.

It's very important to realize what the value of a specific link can mean for your website. Link building isn't just about collecting a large quantity of links. It's also about the value these links can have, the relevance of the webpage, and the anchor texts used. All of this determines whether you are using quality links. However, it is difficult to determine link value. It cannot be expressed in exact numbers. Still, there are things you can do to increase the value of a link.

For example, a correct internal link structure plays an important role here. When you link from page to page, you pass a piece of value back and forth (link juice). By doing this, you give the linked web page more Link authority. The higher the valuation of the linking site, the higher the authority of your page will be. Link juice is passed on and seeps into all referenced pages. This is how you build a powerful link profile for your own page.

Difference between dofollow and nofollow links

When distributing link juice, tricks could sometimes be applied. For a long time, it was possible to give certain anchor texts a ‘nofollow’ is provided. This link primarily served to inform the reader, and no link juice was passed. Therefore, this link had no effect on the authority of the linked page. As soon as in the same text a ‘dofollow’was used, these other links actually received more link juice. However, this method is no longer effective, and dofollow links will no longer receive link juice by using nofollow links in the same text.

This might make it seem like a nofollow link has no function at all. However, this is not the case. These links contribute to the readability of a text. Don't forget that you write your web texts solely for the visitor, not for search engines. When readers actually benefit from the texts, this will eventually lead to more authority on its own. This is by far the best way to gain more authority. By earning it.
